new opening in Vietnam

As a young woman, I laughed at the Robinson Club holidaymakers. I thought they were all ignorant Germans who weren't interested in other cultures and customs. The majority of them stay in the resort the whole time, get German food and only speak German.

I held this opinion for many years until one day I found myself in the situation of having to go on holiday alone. I was in my early 30s and had just separated from my first husband. My mother couldn't step in and all my friends had to work.

Going to a normal hotel alone was out of the question for me, as there was a high probability that I would be alone there the whole time. From experience, normal hotels are not geared towards single travelers. There are no single rooms, so you pay twice the price for a double room and in the restaurant you get the shabbiest table in the back corner. As a solo traveler, you hardly make any friends at the pool or in the evening at the bar, because couples and families want to be undisturbed, or because the women are worried about their husbands.

In this situation, I had no choice but to book a club holiday. With great reluctance, but also with a certain curiosity, I booked a week's holiday at the Robinson Club in Mallorca and became a Robinson fan overnight.

Even the reception at the Robinson Club is a pleasure. Robinson employees are there to greet you at the entrance and wave to you. In the club, people always address you informally, which automatically suggests a certain familiarity. You are greeted with a refreshing drink and your suitcases are taken from you so that you can check in without any worries. When you check in, you are shown where to find things using a club card and you and your suitcases are taken to your room.

The Robinson Club takes special care of solo travelers. There are get-togethers so that you can quickly get to know other solo travelers and plan various daily activities together, and there are many of them. From yoga, TaiChi or BOP courses to water aerobics, soccer, beach volleyball, tennis, various water sports and a fitness center, everything is there.

The food here is also first class. There is a large selection of domestic and local dishes of high quality. What I particularly like about the meals is that there are lots of tables of 6 and 8 in the restaurant, which brings strangers together. This way you get to know other holidaymakers, which often leads to friendships for life.

Another special feature is the evening program. After dinner, there is a well-done show every evening, performed by Robinson Club employees, and then it's time to dance on the chessboard. Here, a DJ plays great dance music every evening and everyone joins in. There is no atmosphere like that at the Robinson Club. If I had to define a profile of a typical Robinson vacationer, I would describe them like this: a nice, open person who likes to socialize, do sports or be pampered in a spa, likes to eat well and doesn't like to sit in their room in the evenings but prefers to have fun and party. AND THAT'S ME!

Therefore, at least one Robinson Crusoe holiday per year is part of my holiday planning, as are cultural and adventure trips.

To date, I have visited 11 clubs. As a very curious person, I am a guest at every new opening from the very beginning. When I heard that a new club was opening in Vietnam, I was of course immediately on board.

I have summarized my impressions of this club in a short film. Enjoy watching!

“Style is what you do differently while everyone else is doing the same.” Carolina Herrera

In recent years I have observed that people are becoming more and more extreme in everything they do. Whether it is in nutrition, fashion, politics or sport, everything is painted in black and white.

Either they don't pay attention to their diet and stuff themselves with whatever they want, or they live a completely ascetic life and avoid all sweet and fatty foods. When it comes to sport, there only seem to be two options: you're either a couch potato or a dogged extreme athlete who spends every free minute in the gym. The same applies to clothing. I either wear sloppy or super chic clothes; when it comes to clothing style, there's either the "me too" faction or the crazy individualist.

I wonder where all the moderate people have gone, those who eat healthily but do not forego pleasure, who take the stairs instead of the lift but without a pedometer, and those who know what suits them and what is fashionable and have the ability to combine the two to create their own style?

Are you part of the small minority who have a good sense of fashion and what suits you? Then write to me, preferably with a photo, about what makes up your individual style and help others to find their own style.

I am very much looking forward to your letters!

Don't miss any posts.
